Life is always full on here at Khemeia Valley so personal care time often gets sidelined. But we all know that this isn’t a very good long-term approach so I have been playing with the following recipe (in the hopes of incorporating some more self-love into my week) if you would like to give it a try.
INGREDIENTS:
1⁄2 cup coconut oil
1⁄2 cup sweet almond oil
1⁄2 cup dried calendula (Calendula officinalis) flower
2 cups cane sugar
15 drops Sweet Orange essential oil
15 drops Lavender essential oil
METHOD:
Put a heat proof jug into a crock pot, on the low setting, and fill the crock pot with hot water until ¾ of the way up the bowl (be sure not to get any into your jug).
You can infuse your oil in a double-boiler on a stove top at a low heat (under 140°C) if you are around to monitor it.
Add coconut and sweet almond oil, plus the calendula flowers, into the bowl.
Infuse for about four hours stirring occasionally.
Remove from the heat and strain the flowers from the oil.
Add the essential oils (you can add your own essential oil blends but just make sure you check their safety info first) and stir thoroughly.
Add the sugar and stir to combine.
Store your potion in a glass jar in a cool, dark place. Remember to label and date it. As it doesn’t contain water it should last for six to twelve months.
You can enjoy it as an all-over body scrub during a bath or shower. I would love to know what you think about it.
Whenever I make potions like these I like to drop into a ritual space and infuse them with love or a specific intention. I find it makes it much more magickal when you get to use them.
Safety Warnings:
- Take care when using this scrub in the shower or bath as the oil may make it slippery. Wipe you shower or bath tub down after use.
- Carry out a small patch test before using any new product.
