NATURAL WOOD POLISH RECIPE

NATURAL WOOD POLISH RECIPE

We have just purchased some stunning wooden platters that have been upcycled from old wine barrels and so I will need a food safe polish for these. I have found that a lot of the so called 'food safe' commercial wood polishes have mineral oil and other ingredients in them which I'm not comfortable using in my family so I have whipped up this recipe to use.

This is a nice easy recipe to make with simple and safe ingredients.

INGREDIENTS:
¾ Cup Coconut Oil
¼ Cup Beeswax (grated or pellets)
A few drops of lemon essential oil

METHOD:
STEP 1:
Put a heatproof jar in about three centimetres of water in a saucepan (or use a double boiler) over a low heat.

STEP 2:
Add coconut oil and beeswax.
Stir gently until the beeswax is melted.
Carefully remove the jar or double boiler from the saucepan.

STEP 3:
Stir in your essential oil.

STEP 4:
Pour into a clean dry jar or container.
Leave to cool until set and then use as required.

Apply your wood oil to a clean cloth and polish onto your wooden surfaces.
On cooler days, or with unpolished wood, you may need to slightly warm your mixture to make application easier.
