I don’t know about you, but after a summer of working outside my skin is starting to look a bit like the changing autumn leaves (my way of saying a bit brown, dry, and wrinkly). With this in mind, I headed to my cauldron and created this gentle potion to help nourish my skin. I’ve used easy to find ingredients, but let me know if you need any help sourcing anything. The essential oils can be left out completely or swapped out for other gentle oils, just make sure to do your research first on their safety and directions of use.
INGREDIENTS:
½ cup dried Chamomile Flower Infused Coconut Oil
(Here is a link if you aren’t sure how to do this: https://khemeiavalley.com/blogs/news/how-to-make-a-herbal-infusion)
¼ cup shea butter
1 drop of Roman Chamomile essential oil
1 drop of Sweet Orange essential oil
1 drop Sandalwood essential oil
1 drop Neroli essential oil
Gently heat the shea butter in a double boiler over low heat (if you don't have one of these you can use a glass or ceramic bowl or a canning jar over a small saucepan of simmering water) until melted. Add the chamomile infused oil stir until mixture is melted and consistent and turn off the heat.
Let cool for approximately 10 minutes and once it's still warm but not hot to the touch cover and transfer to the refrigerator for approximately 1 hour or until there is no longer a semi-liquid centre.
Using an immersion blender or electric mixer whip the mixture on high for 5 minutes or until it changes colour and looks fluffy you may need to periodically scrape the mixture from the sides of the bowl add essential oils (if using) and mix.
Label and store in a cool dark place. This recipe should keep for up to one year.
