With these cooler months I’ve had a few people asking me what lip balm I use. I don’t actually use lip balm often, but when I do I always make my own. If your lips are getting dry it’s often a sign of dehyrdation so you could try and drink a bit more water to help. If you still need lip balm, then here is a super simple recipe so you can make your own at home.
INGREDIENTS:
3 tsp of herb-infused oil
1 tbsp beeswax
1 tbsp shea butter
10 drops essential oil of choice
DIRECTIONS:
Combine oil, beeswax, and shea butter in a double boiler over low heat (you can also use a heatproof bowl or jar over a small saucepan of simmering water), stirring occassionally.
Once the beeswax is melted, dip a spoon into the mixture and pop it in the fridge. After a couple of minutes check the consistency to see if it suits you. If it is too soft, stir in a little more wax to the warm mixture, or if it is too hard add in a small quantity of the herb infused oil.
Once the mixture is at the right consistency stir in the essential oils.
Pour into tins or lip balm tubes and let cool.
Store in a cool dark place.
Should last for 9 – 12 months.
